Abstract

In this text we will deal with metapsychological issues (the drive insistence and the dimensions of the I: Ego and Self) to a theoretical and clinical consideration of resilience and hope in the face of traumatic situations. We will distinguish between integrated personality resilience and dissociated resilience (a high-cost resilience), a condition in which an egoic competence is overused as an attempt at compensation in the face of Self's weaknesses. Finally, questions will be raised regarding the psychoanalytic clinic of cases in which dissociated (pathological) resilience needs and can be transformed into an integrated resilience.
