Kant against Freud

Abstract

This article aims to establish a critical confrontation between Freud’s and Kant’s thinking about the foundation of morality. We show, in this first text, some guidelines of the Kantian foundation of morality, demarcating it from the Freudian one. We will end this work pointing to its continuity: how Freud would position himself in front of the Kantian approach through metapsychology. The present text will be followed by a second one (Part II) that intends to continue the reflections exposed here.
