Psychoanalysis
from its foundations to the future
Abstract
The text presents some ideas about what could be included as a “fundamental foundation” of psychoanalytic practices and theories and proposes the thesis that these foundations should operate as “tacit” knowledge” (in M. Polanyi’s sense of the term) in the analyst’s mind. It is from that thesis that the analyzing situation is installed in which research, treatment and theorization can occur. To that extent, it is the analyst’s mind that continually mediates between the foundations of psychoanalysis and its ever-expanding future.
